Michael is an Associate in Marten's Seattle Office. He brings a range of experience with federal and state statutes, including the Clean Water Act and the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act.

Michael graduated summa cum laude and valedictorian from Lewis & Clark Law School, with a Certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law. During law school, Michael externed at the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, worked as a research assistant for Professor Michael Blumm, and served as Associate Editor of the Environmental Law Review. He was a two-time national moot court team member and a semifinalist in the Jeffrey G. Miller Environmental Law Moot Court Competition, where he was twice recognized for outstanding oral advocacy. He also received the Bernard O’Rourke Award for the best original paper on an environmental topic. As a clinical student at the Earthrise Law Center, Michael successfully briefed and argued a federal Clean Water Act case against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Recognized for his scholarship, leadership, and service, he was selected for membership in the Cornelius Honor Society. After graduation, Michael clerked for Justice Rebecca A. Duncan at the Oregon Supreme Court and for Judge Michael H. Simon at the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon.
