Marten Announces 2021 Summer Associate Class

Seattle, WA (May 20, 2021) – Marten Law is pleased to announce the arrival of its 2021 Summer Associate class. After a rigorous selection process, this year’s class brings together four students from four different law schools, each with a passion and dedicated interest in environmental and energy law.
2021 Summer Associates:
Shannon Nelson, a 2L at the University of Michigan Law School, is interested in environmental litigation, water rights and resources, and regulatory matters. While at Michigan, Shannon has earned the Yvonne S. Quinn Scholarship (merit-based), the Dow Sustainability Fellowship (2021), the Henry Bates Overseas Fellowship, and was nominated to the IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law (2019). She is the Notes Editor of the Michigan Journal of Law Reform (Vol. 54), and Supervisor of the Environmental Crimes Project. Shannon received her B.A. in Psychology from Wesleyan University.
Bryce Brown, a 2L at Lewis & Clark Law School, is interested in environmental litigation, cleanup and cost recovery, and hazardous waste law. Bryce is an Environmental Law Fellow, on the Scholar List, and an NEDC member at Lewis & Clark. He also clerked at the Oregon Department of Justice, Trial Division. Prior to law school, Bryce was an Environmental Project Manager and Environmental Chemist, and received his M.S. and B.S. in Environmental Science from Brigham Young University.

Rasham Nassar, a 1L at Seattle University School of Law, is interested in water and environmental law. While at Seattle University, Rasham earned the Community Service Scholarship (2020), and is a member of the Moot Court Board and the Women’s Law Caucus. Rasham also currently serves on the Bainbridge Island City Council, and was appointed Mayor in 2021. Prior to law school, Rasham was a Certified Real Estate Appraiser Trainee, a Business Manager, Web Developer and Marketer, Engineering Project Writer, and a Legal Secretary. Rasham received her B.A. in Philosophy from University of California – Berkeley.
Madison Kelly, a 1L at University of Washington School of Law, is interested in public lands, endangered species, wildlife and tribal law. While at the University of Washington, Madison is involved in the Public Interest Association, Center for Human Rights and Justice, and the Women’s Law Caucus. Madison was also a Legal Intern for the Colorado State University Office of General Counsel. Madison received her B.S. in Business Administration from Colorado State University.
Over the course of 12 weeks, the summer associates will participate in meaningful work in environmental litigation, energy transactions and regulatory matters. The students will have opportunities to virtually connect with each other as well as mentors and the firm’s senior leadership.
