Marten Law is excited to announce the arrival of its 2024 Summer Associates. This year’s class includes three exceptionally accomplished students from the nation’s top law schools, all with substantial experience in environmental and energy law.
Leni Hirsch (left) joins Marten’s Seattle office from Yale Law School. Leni’s interests include renewable energy and climate change, as well as emerging contaminants and public lands. Before law school, Leni worked as a senior consultant at Bain & Company, externed at Google, and served at both the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the U.S. Digital Service. Leni graduated summa cum laude with a degree in the History of Science from Harvard College.
Sarah Mastrian (center) joins Marten’s Seattle office from the University of Michigan Law School. Sarah serves as both the Executive Editor of the Journal of Environmental and Administrative Law and Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Society. She also volunteers at UM’s Environmental Law and Sustainability Clinic. During her first law school summer, Sarah interned at the Alaska Department of Law in the Natural Resources Section. Sarah graduated from Indiana University with highest honors in Political Science and Environmental & Sustainability Studies.
Seth Gertz-Billingsley (right) joins Marten’s Washington, D.C. office from Harvard Law School. Seth’s research experience includes work for Harvard’s Environmental & Energy Law Program and UNESCO’s Endowed Chair of Environmental Law and Sustainable Development. He also served as a law clerk to the United States Senate and at Scott Douglass & McConnico LLP. Before law school, Seth worked as a conservation associate at public interest group Environment Texas. He graduated from John Brown University with a degree in Business Administration. Following graduation, Seth will serve for a year as a law clerk to Judge Lavenski Smith of the Eighth Circuit.
