San Francisco is Newest Marten Office

We are pleased to welcome veteran environmental lawyer Chris Locke, who joins Marten Law as a partner to anchor our new San Francisco office.  Chris has practiced environmental law and litigation in California for more than 35 years and has been recognized by clients as a “master strategist and exceptional litigator.” Nationally recognized by his clients and peers, Chris is a Fellow of the American College of Environmental Lawyers and a former Board member of the Environmental Law Institute.
 
Law firms are built around people, and Chris is not only an exceptional lawyer but an exceptional colleague. He brings expertise and a tenacity to his work that has allowed him to successfully represent clients in federal and state enforcement actions and the full range of environmental litigation and administrative actions, including CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Water Act, the Clean Air Act, the Endangered Species Act, and other statutory and common law claims. Drawing on his experience as a former federal prosecutor, Chris’ practice also includes internal investigations and defense of criminal enforcement actions.  He also assists clients with regulatory compliance, permitting, real estate development, project development strategies, NEPA and CEQA land use proceedings, and related litigation.
 
Chris came to Marten with the goal of expanding our national practice and serving our growing number of California clients. He is ranked by Chambers USA for California Environmental Law, recognized by Best Lawyers in America for Environmental Law and Litigation, and listed by Lawdragon Green 500 as among Leaders in Environmental Law.  Chris earned his J.D. from the University of California School of Law, Berkeley.
