Svend Brandt-Erichsen, who practices in both Alaska and Washington, has been an environmental lawyer for nearly 20 years. He spent over 15 years in private practice and, before that, was Regional Administrator of the State of Alaska’s Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC).

Svend has spent his career in energy development, assisting petroleum, coal-based and alternative energy firms with the environmental issues associated with oil and gas production, transportation, and refining, and with power development and distribution. He represents the Alyeska Pipeline Service Company, the operator of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Service (TAPS) on its environmental matters, as well as several oil companies in litigation over development and operating permits for oil platforms in Alaska’s Cook Inlet. He has advised an independent power development company on carbon management issues for coal gasification projects; a former mining company concerning the adequacy of an EIS supporting a federal land exchange needed to redevelop a desert mine site as a solid waste landfill; a coalition seeking reform of harvest practices that affect ESA-listed Northwest salmon and steelhead; and a Washington refinery in its response to a petition seeking ESA listing of a herring population that spawns near its facility.

He received his Juris Doctorate, with Honors, from George Washington University.
