Claire Jahns is a Research Assistant with Marten Law Group. Before joining the firm, Claire worked for four years as an Economist at the Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX), the first voluntary market for trading carbon credits established in the United States. While at the CCX, Claire developed and implemented protocols for documenting GHG reductions and offsets, worked on emission inventories, and analyzed the feasibility of creating new tradable instruments, including credits for energy efficiency projects and renewable fuels. Claire also helped recruit and assimilate new members into the CCX. During her tenure, membership increased from 16 members to over 200.

Claire is the co-author (with Richard Sandor) of “Incorporating Greenhouse Gas Sequestration into Carbon Trading,” EM Magazine (November 2006);and“Initial Observations from the First year of the Chicago Climate Exchange,” in Green Trading Markets: Developing the Second Wave, Elsevier Science (2005).

A honors graduate of Oberlin College, Claire is a candidate for a Masters degree in Environmental Management at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
