Alyssa A. Moir
Alyssa focuses on environmental litigation, where she has particular experience with state and federal cleanup laws, as well as environmental review and permitting for facilities in the Pacific Northwest. She pursues expertise in renewable energy and climate change, writing articles and commentary on these emerging fields of environmental law.
Alyssa earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Washington School of Law where she served on the Editorial Board of the Pacific Rim Law & Policy Journal and provided legal services through the Berman Environmental Law Clinic. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the fields of international relations, environmental science and African studies. Prior to joining the Marten Law Group, Alyssa was a law clerk to the Honorable Marlin J. Appelwick, Washington State Court of Appeals, Division 1.
Representative Cases Include:
- Assisting in the representation of a commercial client in a cleanup of a wood-waste landfill under the Model Toxic Control Act (MTCA). Participated in the identification of other potentially liable parties and pursuing MTCA contribution claims against the same. Liaising with consultants, clients, and relevant public agencies. Assisted in the defense of one defendant’s motion for summary judgment.
- Assisting in the representation of a commercial client in cleanup and remediation of a former dry-cleaning facility. Participating in application to Ecology’s Voluntary Cleanup Program and liaising with Ecology, consultants, client, and current property owner.
- Represented large marine construction company’s interests in EPA’s proposed vessel discharge program under the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System.
- Assisted in wetland mitigation permitting process for a commercial client; advised on permitting process for citing renewable energy source.
- Assisted in the representation of a municipal client with multi-million dollar cleanup costs for ownership of a landfill Superfund site.
